Impossible fish tank does the impossible

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think it's neat. People probably are smarter than to put their whole hand in there and have it bitten off by a trigger anyways...

I remember seeing this tank a few years ago, I wanted it then too. :D

Yeah, that article was from a few years back. I was bored yesterday and started reading all the old articles on that site.

I would bet the actual hole is smaller than the cut-out in the pic. Probably just big enough for a finger or piece of food.

anybody got any more info? i don't understand how the water just doesn't come shooting out....

Before I explain how this works I would just like ot say that this is not at all good for the fishes health, as the entire tank is caped like a chicken feeder so that a vacuum holds the water in, and unless you where to bubble air into the tank, the water will not escape out the hand entrance bits. I would Imagen that this amount of suction, probably near to three thousand kg per Msquare would have a long term damaging effect on the fish, and I do not approve the contact of fishes with human hands anyway, as this can result in damage to the fishes mucus membranes and gill covers even. Also There is a hygiene issue that must be addressed, not for human health, but the visitors putting their hands in the tank introducing organisms that could harm the fish. This could worst of all introduce traces of soap, which may not seem anything to worry about in such a system, but Imagen having a hand covered in soap, and then putting it in the tank. Also parasites could possibly find their way in on warm hands, and this combined with damage to fishes slime due to hands toughing them could be very dangerous for the fish. ;)

explain what? you didn't even explain how it works. I IMAGINE you don't really know what you are talking about, because people pet their fish all the time. I don't personally, but many fish keepers like to stick their hands in their aquarium any chance they get without doing any harm to the fish. And SOAP??? What are the chances of someone washing their hands with soap and not rinsing it off? How many people do you know that do that?
