Improving your Arowanas Color

I think genes has a lot to do with it, but feeding most definitely helps. Feeding tons of shrimp or krill to red arowanas will give you a darker, almost brick red coloration. Feeding insects that have been gut loaded with color enhancing flakes and carrots, as well as a good quality color enhancing pellet along with the shrimp works best in my experience. Mix in some fish scraps and kingworms for protein and you're laughing.

Gold or rtg arowanas end up with a darker coloration when fed shrimp as well, and it gives the most desirable effect.
 
Not sure, i have seen many which look a lot less colourful, like they are more grey than pink and yellow.
And also, some i have seen do not have blue on their fins, more a white colour, im impressed with my little guy as i got him the day he was brought in, so he did 2 tank swaps in one day and was eating from my tank that same day!
 
Here capo, this is my guy finally home. He was a little shy because he just came home, thats why the pic isnt the best. You can kind of make out the purple around the edges, but the color is as strong as yours.
