well my african is eating!! :woot: and i have proof he is actually growing...

When I first got him I was out of town and my friend Kyle called me up to tell me that one of our LFS got in african arowanas and i asked him to buy one for me... so he did being the nice guy he is and he brough it over to my place and put it in a 55 gallon tank of mine where i have some angelicus botia and some small silver datnoids... well i came back to find the african arowana had been getting picked on because his fins were a little frilled, so immediatley i set up that 20 gallon long and started feeding the crap out of him...

Now today a week later I see him rummaging through the small gravel bits and eating constantly.... His fins have actualls almost grown back and his scales look much more healthy too as they are all almost one constant color!! I will post pics soon!

Wow. Can't wait to see some pics. I wish I had a tank big enough for an Aro, but my parents won't let me have anything bigger than a 55.

Oh you will one day, I'm 20 years old and I already have too many big tanks! My roommates want to kill me sometimes... But I raised a silver arowana in a 55 gallon for almost a year before I had to move him. So your options arent too limited a 55 gallon is a decent size tank

wow looks like african aro is becoming popular. wished i have a spare tank to keep one. ;)
They're seasonal fish thus not really popular unless you got a liking for them. Alot just buy for the sake of buying for fun and after awhile they just give them up due to the fact that they ain't as attractive as any other aros in term of colour and shape.

But if you're someone of a taste for a different fish to won, they're a beauty by themselves.;)

The arowana Matt got was real nice, he was the biggest one the LFS owner had brought in. He's got a wierd black dot on his nose though and I don't think it is a parasite. Is it a scale that is growing back in or just a wierd marking? Matt's Tank does look straight though.....and his roommates want to kill me too because I am one of his "fish buddies".........:headbang2 :headbang2 Yeah for FISH NERDS!!!! :grinyes: :grinyes:

HAHA yea they do!! I couldn't help it though I've wanted an african aro for a long time and all of a sudden one was available and I had to set him up a new tank to get him into adulthood!! African aro's have many receptitors on their nose and I think they all fill in with a blackish color after awhile... we'll see::screwy:
