IN, MI, WI, IL, OH, MN, IA, MO, KY, TN meet?

I'm down for helping organize. Where would we hold the event? We barely have 5 members willing to meet. I guess if we had a legit "MFK - Monsters of the Mid-West" meet n greet set up it would pull more people in. I don't think we need to go crazy with the first annual meet. Lol... We basically need to get a ground plan and work from there. Realistically how far are people willing to travel? Who are good candidates for sponsors? Besides this forum I do little else in the way of social fish keeping. Just me, my tanks, and MFK. :cool:

I'm thinking Chicago. It's central and has the largest population base for clubs and members.

Sponsor canidates could be anyone from aqueon to the local pizza joint that sold us a bunch of cheap pizzas for a lunch talk one day.

Go big or go home

The GCCA hold their meets in Chicago. With the amount of swag they have going we would be better off just getting a booth. They have at least one event per month booked till the end of the year. It'd be hard to compete.

That's true. Why not try to bring in the clubs from Iowa, various Illinois clubs, Indiana, and Missouri in and maybe even Michigan and Ohio clubs in to try to do something that's been done only once or twice before. The worst thing that can happen is someone says no.
 
Very true. First we would need the blessing from Li to use the namesake. I wouldn't go to him or the mods until we have more of a plan. Guess we could compile a list of clubs and go from there. Interested parties would give us an idea of how much space we would need, hotel room guesstimate, food vendor head count, etc.
