we primered and after drying added another 2 top coats of paint which is the same colour as the wall where the tank sits, we also painted the framework the doors attach too the same colour.
i added a base for the tank on the top of the stand and sealed it with the sealer used for the stand.
i drilled holes so the screws could be countersunk.
i glued it on with PVA or wood glue if you dont know what PVA is.
to take up any imperfections between the tank and stand i added a vapour barrier used for fitting floors, this will act like polystyrene that most people use.
i use this on my other tank and it works very well.
Dix, as always, really impressed with the attention detail....the colour of the stain on the stand look superb...its a very exciting project, and i chuffed to see it moving along nicely mate....well done so far buddy..

the stain was what i had lying around but it will be behind doors and not seen, it was just to protect it from water damage.
its the fine detail stuff that has taken the time to calculate etc.
thanks
we fitted the trims with no nails to the wood framework after they dried out.
the only thing left to fit will be the skirting along the bottom but its sunday and i cant get any so thats a job for next week.
the filter, heaters and water will be added over the next couple of days and i should have the fish in by wednesday or thursday.
