I was able to get a male and female Indonesian (Hasselt's) Bamboo Shark. I was hesitant but figured i wouldnt be getting the opportunity any time soon if i passed it by. After purchasing I was actually pretty depressed that i went ahead and bought them even though some consider them the hardest bamboo to keep, especially since the chances of them eating are slim to none.

So i pressed on, ensuring all water parameters were ideal, salinity was 1.024-25, a single damsel and mexican turbo as tank mates. A 2-3 inch sand bed, some macroalgae and a few pieces of live rock. I drip acclimated them for almost 4 hours, after using prime to detox any ammonia in the bag (i got them directly from an Indonesian Supplier).
Lights out, to reduce stress.
The female was very relaxed, even in the bag, where as the male is constantly swimming, even during most of the day.

Day 3: I attempted to feed. Tried Squid, no luck. Clams, no luck. Brine and Mysis, no luck. Krill, cocktail shrimp, Shark Formula, Scallops... No luck.

I removed all uneaten food. Tried a few of the same after lights out, no luck. So i gave up and became more distressed.

Day 4: Carnivore Cuisine... JACKPOT!!!!! (Ingredients:Pollock, krill, mussel, sprats, octopus, urchin roe, conch, Marine bloodworms, Sand worms, spirulina, flour, Vitamin a and b12 , JUST TO NAME THE IMPORTANT STUFF)

I feel like i won the lotto. Take note of these ingredients, perhaps there is something important here that makes up a large part of their diet. Something that isnt normally tried on its own. The feeding response was almost immediate. No hesitation whatsoever. It was almost as if they had been waiting the entire time for something they had been missing.

Now i just hope they dont do the infamous sudden death ive been reading about.

Some pics....

not to be repetitive but i thought this was a cool shot

I have to admit these are the coolest looking sharks I have seen! I have never seen one in the stores, so it is a treat to get to see them.

Thanks everybody!

I just hope i didnt jinx myself. There still so small

Anyway, if your good LFS has a decent relationship with any Indonesian (Bali, Jakarta) Suppliers, theres no reason why you cant order them especially this time of year.

But to be honest, i really wouldnt recommend it. Its too much of a gamble. I really just took a chance and happened to be lucky. Theres still such a low survival rate, even if they eat. :(:(
