indoor pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This idea does work. Concrete blocks: 3 blocks tall(stack them wide, not tall). Install a liner. Then go get solid, half higth concrete blocks. Lay them on top. They hide the top edges of liners. You can make it as wide and as long as you wish.
I did it on my back porch for gold fish. It looks really neat and clean.

if using cinder block glue them with a retaining wall adhesive (titebond or liquid nails) and fill them with 2a modified this will keep them from sliding from the weight of the water
Nic :)

The water will not move them if it is only 3 blacks tall. But the adhesive sounds great. Every time I bump the tank with my leg, I have to scoot a block back in place.

 :headbang2 wow a swiming pool for a pond WOW AWSOME!!! :headbang2 I cant have 1

here's an updated pic of the fish and pond from the inside! Also a pic of me petting him!

hey guys,
this really sux, but i have no choice but to move, and where i am moving my pond must be an outside pond. It will be above ground and must be able to be heated to temps of at least 65-70 f when the temps get -30f this winter. i thought I would put insulation around the pond and wrap it tight with a pond liner then make an insulated cover for the top also covered with pond liner and add a 1000 w titanium heater. does this sound good? what other things do I need to take into consideration?
thanks

Insulate insulate insulate and I would have 2 heaters instead of the one that way you have a back up if one fails. Let us know how it ends up and look after those cats:drool:

Yeah, I am kinda scared seems like i am sending my catfish to their doom. I have heard of other people who have outdoor aquariums and they say they have no problems keeping them warm so long as there is a tight fitting cover. My fish will have to go in some storage bins for a few weeks while I prep their home. I hate moving blah!!!!! I am gonna make the cover out of ply wood cut to fit the top exactly it will be two half circles, with hinges on a 2x4 in the center of the pond. I will insulate the top and bottom of the cover and wrap it in pond liner and use silicone to seal the seams. I hope this works. i am kind of weary on the filters too, like will they be ok outside,,,,, guess I will find out. Also about electrical outlets for outside. this project = $$$$$ I didn't expect plus moving expenses.

Here's some updated pics of what I have done to my former indoor pond. I build an insulated box around it. At -30 f. the water stayed at around 75 degrees. Enjoy!
