just want to try and breed arowana to see how it's like, are there any deffrent from breeding silver and black? and how does it happend, what tank size do you need , more the info the better. thanks

I have not found much info posted on this anywhere on the net. Don't believe that there is much chance of it in the average home aquarium.

im pretty sure u need a pond, not a tank, also matching aro mates together is pretty difficult n expensive b/c u cant sex the aros i think.

i read that matching them up by growin a group together untill they pair up????

That is a typical generic statement that you would do for most any type fish breeding project. Do you know what it will take to raise a group of 6-8 silver/black aro to sexual maturity. As previously mentioned, you'd be looking at ponds not aquariums.

Unless u made a 10,000 gallon aquarium like the fish aquariums have!

In the Amazon, arowana's breed during the rainy season when the water levels are higher where more food is available. If you could mimic all the environmental factors then you have a slight chance of succeeding as stated before it takes a lot to raise a group of arowana's. Best to leave it to the farms whom have better facillities and the right environment ;).

Whatever, if you want a diplay then spend the big bucks. If ya want to breed fish, build ponds at a fraction of the cost. Another option would be to dream about having 150g tank;)

i am rasing a group to try this...now i have 8...i will try to replicate the rainy season to stimulate the breeding season...i think it is the same or simmilar to the asian aro breeding...
