At least in the case of the bass part of it is because redeyes are difficult to locate. Redfins and grass pickerel on the other hand are easy to find by comparison. They look virtually identical to pike and muskie, act virtually the same and grow a fraction of the size, I don't get it. Even if you just have to go "monster" there are chain pickerel who while mostly unsuitable for aquariums still stay much smaller than pike and muskie. It bottles my mind.
lol, it "bottles" your mind. "you know, when your thoughts get all trapped up, like in a bottle"

i think you mean mind boggling ;)

i agree with you though, it doesnt make sense to keep musky in aquaria unless its bass pro shops

No, I meant mind bottleing. It was a joke.

Dont forget the expensive XL feeder fishes as the decoy suckers cost $7 per one so I dont think I will get muskie or pike.

You also have to consider that these fish do not turn on a dime. Even aros can make tighter turns than pikes. That means that the tank will have to be at least slightly wider than the fish is long, otherwise it'll have gill curl in no time at all. So if your tank is going to be something like a pool, then go for it.

Fish. Too. Big.

Budget. Too. Small.

Pike tasty.
