What is wrong with just getting a small predetory fish for the 30 gallon... or buy a 55 gallon set that usually go on sale... some of the smaller cichlids have just as much personality as the large glass bangers you see in videos and are much easier to care for... like EBA or keyholes... or dwarf cichlids/pike... after a year with that if all goes well (hopefully) you'll realise the difficulty in keeping fish and how much it costs for dechlorinator/food/meds(salt)/plants....new heaters! And you'll have some experience to move up

Well give him some space. I wanted to buy 10 tanks at once to when I got into fish at first. Like everyone, he needs to learn to contain his enthusiasm and build himself up to the point where he is ready to take care of big tanks.
Believe me I understand where hes coming
Well that's a little harsh but I can see the idea.
thats the literal summary. Im not exagerating. Ive tried to be informative and helpful to steer him in another directions the whole time but once he said he didnt want to worry about a filter and just throw plants in it Ive realized he isnt even taking it seriously

also im not a beginner that pond was supposed to be for my 8 year old goldfish which died because of my sister put her hands in the aquarium when i was in school

And when i joined mfk i was wondering for more tropical freshwater fish for the pond of which i was investing into

i never said i wasnt going to get a filter i was going to get plants and let algae grow so it doesnt put too much pressure on the filter

agreed!

Ok. Yeah, a pond NEEDS a filter. Im going to attempt a no filter shrimp bowl this summer bur that's a LOT different than fish

A fish shouldn't die form putting you hands in the tank. I do it all the time.
