Should you mix Ocars with Cichlids?

you should never mix africans with americans IMO

separate out the oscar, put him in a dark tank with melafix and salt, as well as clean, warm water
 
The only new world cichlid I feel comfortable mixing with Africans is Convicts.

So no, I wouldn't stick any of my Oscars in an African tank.
 
I would definitely isolate the injurd fish until it heals.
 
Not sure how a missing eye will heal? The eye socket will close up and there will be no open wound, but the oscar will be open to attacks from aggressive fish on that side. The oscar may or may not be able to handle this, try it and watch closely. Generally SA don't mix well with african rift lake cichlids because of there required water parameters, but most fish can adapt.

It really depends on the fish. Each one is so different.
