Inkbird controller

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have the 306, 6 months and no issues.

As mentioned seems more sense to me as never going to need a chiller, only heating lol

Thx man
What size heaters do you have on it ?

Well, I would like to know where you guys are finding a prewired Ranco for $50 because the ones I've found are $70-100.

I think it's surprising that you think the display looks cheap because that's exactly what I thought about the Ranco. I'm very pleased with the display on the InkBird. It is extremely easy to read.

I will say, I definitely don't think the InkBird could hold up to beating someone. I'm pretty sure it would break on the first hit.

As for the issues with the 306, I don't recall exactly what they were. I just remember hearing about people having problems over on SimplyDiscus. They said that the 308 has been very reliable.

That is another thing in favor of the InkBird. It gets rave reviews over on SimplyDiscus and those guys have some expensive fish. They usually don't have massive tanks though.

All in all, I'm still extremely pleased with my two InkBirds. They are very easy to use and come with great instructions. I would strongly recommend them to anyone at this point in time.

The ranco units under $50 offered on amazon is not hardwired. No cords. Just rectangular box w/1 led display and sensor probe. Everywhere else a wired ranco is $79.99- $99.99.

These $80+ ones are generally also shrink wrapped.

The LED on the inkbird looks identical to my $6 digital thermometer, that might impact my impression of it. The rancos are hard to read, the back lit led of the newer models help a bit. That said I don't think the LED would die out like my digital thermometer.

So reading up that the hot and cold load is 10 amp for each up to 1100 watt. Doesn't clarify for each inkbird plug. With that being said. It may be a dumb question. Can both cold and hot be on the same time? Designating a heater per outlet if so. There's a review which stated they are never on the same time. Is it true?

To note. The 1200w max/ 306T model with the blue module has the 2 plug in, but labeled a work 1 and work 2. Technically, can each heater be plugged in for each and duplicate calibration for 1&2?

My understanding is yes would be fine. I think this is the model i may test out

I've not used the inkbird either, but I actually think it's promising if time proves to be reliable. I do like its built in function with alarm. The LED is easier to read. If truly rated for 1000w, I wouldn't have issues adding dual receptacle extentions. Can't beat the price...almost too low lol.

I did have an issue with my original Ranco probe. They sent me a replacement and it appeared to be better quality - likely what Woefulrelic has in his newer Ranco model. I did post once being at the local aquarium at the kids display setup. I look under and what do see but a Ranco. If it's good for commercial use, should be good for me.

Here's a snapshot of mine with dual receptacles that light indicating they are on. Just visual for others that are contemplating. Not the best looking but well funtional so far.

I also use two digital therm with alarms as backup anyway (one in sump and one in overflow). So wouldn't rely just on the Ranco if it had one.
