Input? Porsche Boxster/S2000/R32

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh ok.. i would go with the rest and say s2 then.. you wouldnt want to be accused
of buying a "budget" porsche... and performance -wise , s2000s kicks as. Ive seen it
on japanese dvds running on tracks and the boxter is left far behind.

that is true Wes. I used to be just all for NSX, but after watching a lot of Best Motoring videos and seeing what the S2000 can do, I added it to my list of fun cars to wish for. And the price is nto even that unrealistic like the NSX.

i like the s2000 but i would go with a mitsubishi lancer evolution 9 it is an all around great car!

with the coices you are going with i would say S2000

I heard the S2000 can be twitchy at the limit due to its short wheel base?

Red, I've never driven any of those cars, but can the S2000 really run rings around the Boxster S? The normal Boxster maybe, but the S ?

Thats the dvd that ive seen.. the wacky japanese drivers.. those dvds made me respect the skyline gts for what they can really do. :)

Wes, I read or heard somewhere that the Lotus Elise uses a Celica Engine.

Let's wait for Itcthy to chime in on this one. He's the automotive Guru. LOL
Yeah, the Lotus uses the same 1.8l inline four engine as the Celica GTS, the 2ZZ-GE, but tuned for 10 more hp than the 180 hp in the Celica GTS:

http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elise/thecar/engine/toyota.html

It's only 190 hp, but the car only weighs 1900 lbs, so it's still a 10:1 (pounds/hp) car.

An Elise will outperform an S2000 in both acceleration and handling, but it's essentially a track car w/ few concessions or creature comforts. I've seen 0-60 times in the 4.4 to 4.8 second range for the Elise, versus 5.5 to 5.9 or so for the S2000. Lateral acceleration in the range of 1.0g is also possible w/ the Elise.

Thanks for everyone's input. It seems most peoples answer is based on sheer performance. If I want that I will just go for a new Mitsu EVO... I guess I'm stuck for now.. Thanks again

Jesse,

you shoulda seen this one video of a bunch of Honda racing. An old super weight reduced CRX kicked all their asses. Including the NSX. It was so light that all the drivers agreed it was DANGEROUSLY LIGHT!. LOL
