Ok, I walked into an LFS today and saw a couple of second hand tanks, someone obviously moved, got bored etc. and wanted rid asap.

For some insane reason I thought hmmm river tank that could be fun so I made them an offer, as the tank already had a heater, air pump and lighting rig within the asking price if I ended up doing nothing with it I would have got plenty of spare bits and pieces for the price of the tank alone so I thought why not.

Well the light works, the air pump works and the heater works and as the tank was halve full when I picked it up I'll guess that it doesn't leak, either way turned out to be a bargin, the only thing that didn't come with it is a pump.

Now for the problem, it's a river tank, that's 2 metres long or 80 inches.

Metric: 203x18x34cm
Imperial: 90x7x13.5''

Now it needs a really good clean inside and out and to lid has seen better days, so as a project there is plenty to do:

Clean it up
Build a new lid for it
Build a stand for it
Find somewhere to put it:nilly:
and for the interesting part which is why I'm posting, what do I put inside it?:nilly:

Great pick up!!! Agreed with congo's.

That tank would be perfect for a big school of tetras! Not sure if cory's are river but they would look cool too.

small loaches would be cool - maybe hillstream loaches? And some white clouds or danios?

You could have powerheads at one end, rocks at the bottom, and have a an Asian stream tank :)

River tank would be nice to have. I'm not too sure about what some current loving fish would be...Nice pick-up...

Thanks guys for the ideas, there is already the pipework installed for the pump(not yet acquired) to run the outlet as a huge powerhead at one side, I'm loving the idea of a huge school of something, I like congos as well so maybe that's the way to go. Not monster(plenty of that already) but a little bit insane;)

I'm halve divided if to run it about 3/4 of the way full as well, install a big pump at one end and fill it full of smooth rocks?

BTW, I said to the wife about 30 seconds before i had seen it 'I don't think I'll every buy another tank again, I'll just build them in the future'

This should definitely be a river tank with current loving fish! :D
