Aparrently that was what it was used for before, it would make a great tank setup and could even turn a profit but the initial stocking would be just too much, plus I'd have to find some for sale

Yep, it's the Buffalo Darter, Etheostoma bison. The upper fish is the Mountain Redbelly Dace, Phoxinus oreas. The darters are a big group, and most of them are pretty, small, and easy to keep. I don't know why they haven't become more popular, besides the fact that they are cool-water species.

we caught a ton of Etheostomas this fall. my favorite was the Etheostoma etowahae,etowah darter. they're beautiful fish
