Insects.

i'm all for it!
i hate the wing cases that crickets leave behind tho
make sure they havent come into contact with pesticides, herbicides etc!

I don't feed insects often but they are very good for your fish, esp if gut loaded. My tank has plenty of moths landing in it anyway as it is a light source near a external doorway.

It is very risky, all insects have the potential to cover a lot of ground, which means they can be exposed to mant herbicides and pesticides. I don't know much about aros but an alternative to feeding him wildcaught grasshoppers may be to buy crickets at yor LFS as a "treat" every so often. I would not recommend exposing your fish to possible chemicals.

True, but they could have been exposed to herbicide, which of course target plants, or a pesticide that is made to target a certain type of insect, which grasshoppers may be strong enough to survive exposure and carry. I am not sure. You are probably safe, and I am by no means the authority on this :) I was just warning you of the risk. What does evryone else think?

Cricket from a safe source are the best bet, whos to say that cricket you pick up that is in 'perfect' health isn't hopping off to die, you don't know. Besides, some chemical can build up in the fishes system until the point where it is dangerous. You see this with lead poisoning in humans.

we shall see i think he is strong enough. hopefully i am right and he will live a long life. i can see what you are saying though, but if he is monster he will overcome.

I've been feeding grasshoppers to my gecko for years, and he's had no problem. As long as it's not regularly, than you should have no problem with pesticides.
