well a couple of us mfk members were discussing the possibility of starting a non-profit breeding program in the US it would have to be non-profit and it would have to be dedicated to reintroducing them into the wild i am just looking for feed back if anyone would be interested in helping or donating time or money with a program like this we could theoretically get asian aros off the C.I.T.E.S. list it would probally take ten years or more though but who cares lets get it going maybe it could work maybe it wont but no one elase is going to do it if we dont lets make this fish available to all i will donate the space for breeding if we can get it going bbut i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :asianarow :asianarow :asianarow :asianarow :asianarow :asianarow :asianarow

anyone wanting to help if we try this out please pm me i cant do this alone and moral support is not enough help

i have always thought its was a better idea for you guys in the US to start your own breeding project

as if you wait for the wild population to regrow it will never happen

and none of the farms are never going to help rebuild the wild population when they can make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ selling the fish

like i said before only breeding we can do is to help the wild population look at american C.I.T.E.S. laws with enough research and effort in the futhering of their wild populations we could theorectically get the law to be relaxed and then maybe we could breed for US customers but i still dont want to do it for the money i want to do it for all the people like me in the US that want their favorite fish but cant own one because of laws this is to also help an endangered species

It's a good idea, however CITES will never allow for these animals to be kept in private homes - even if it is a "non profit group". It's hard enough for institutions to aquire the papers to keep them.

first i am talking all legal with proper paperwork

and second research and a private building and grounds for them would have to be aquired it is possible i have already done most of the research and have land that i will donate i have also talked to the proper authorities and yes it would be hard but it is not impossible i just gave up because i do not have the resources to do this all by myself then i got involved on this forum and it got me thinking again!
