I thought Bagworm as well but didn't think they would be in Panama. I suggest cutting that off and destroy it immediately.
Last summer had to deal with Bagworms almost destroyed my shrubs.

IIMG_1437.jpeg.believe this is a newly identified (discovered) species here in Panama.
Thought to be carnivorous, but as you can see by the mangrove leaf next to the cocoon, it looks like it has occasionally emerged to grab a bite.

Giant Harpy Spider; feeds mostly on Capybara and other medium-sized mammals. Very dangerous.

Better take off and nuke the site from orbit; it's the only way to be sure. :)

It does look a lot like the bagworms by me - I didn’t know there were species in Panama though. I agree with killing it and checking for more. I’ve lost more than enough trees to them.

I had several almost killed a evergreen shrub and barberry bush. The evergreen shrub was in fested with them had to use product made to kill bagworms specifically. They are voracious eaters.

How much space do you need for a mangrove? and how long till it outgrows an under cabinet? I just have chaeto algae in my sump.
