I speak for myself but I was responding to the OP. Im going to say thats the rule of thumb on MFK and yes people jump in on threads with their problems but not answer every Reply as if its their Thread... know what I mean?

Why not post what each one is best used for?

3 reasons.
1) I really think that if you (anyone) don't already know which med is used for which parasite you should not be keeping rays. Rays imo are best kept by 'advanced aquarists' and that is the sort of principle info an advanced aquarist should have on-hand.

2)it is easy enough to google or search this forum or others to find your answer. That way you learn instead of being spoon-fed.

3)shotgun diagnosis is unethical.
I could tell you to use a med that has a 2 in 3 chance of being the wrong med then it is no use, may cause further harm and stress to your animal or to your filtration and may even kill your animal.

I recommend " handbook of fish diseases" by untergasser as a decent starter resource for better diagnosing any fish problems (of course bearing in mind that rays don;t respond to all meds like scaled fish do)

Point taken. Also, highlight where I claim to have Rays?
Why even bother being part of a Forum if you keep all the info to yourself? My question should have been more specific with name the parasites/infections that you have successfully used with each one as the Meds directions are not always right (you should know that Advanced Ray Pro).

Can I blame you being tight on info due to the Economy (have to save on everything right?)?

This is a community forum- not a competition. It is a place where we are meant to share information/experiences and resources. It is also interactive where a continual dialogue can happen and further educate everyone taking part of it.

Of course it is an area where- both good and bad- advice can be given, but that is also how we learn.

I am an Advanced Aquarist and can say forums like this have been one of the greatest resources to get me there.

Personally I have years of experience with marine biology, coral propogation, ecosystem establishment-blah,blah,blah.

BUT I am weak on stingray medication which is somewhat of a speciality area- given their sensitive nature and unique needs.

Therefore I turn to the pro's or at least those with more experience in this field for advice.

First off- I say thank you to all those that have shared and please continue to do so. To those who withhold information- or tell us to do other searches- this is not educating us.

Please understand I am not here to argue - I am reading this persons question as part of my education and research and would appreciate any input that is given.

instead of the diatribes you could have more easily, with fewer words, done a simple google or forum search, but you prefer to argue.
No problem with that, I like to argue too

I could have also told you what meds work against what parasites, but then you would need to learn how to ID the parasites, which would take another google search or the purchase of an inexpensive book ( as I already suggested)

People learn best when they do the work for themselves
but some people, ( not you guys I hope )being either too lazy or too stupid, are still going to cry to be spoon fed and learn nothing.

Let me put it this way: I prefer to teach you how to fish than to just give you a fish.

How much have all of us spent on rays and equipment and food etc? so why be cheap when a $25 book will provide you with more answers than you know what to do with?

I dont mind him "hijacking" the thread, its the same issue he has as i do. As long as it stays on the same focus.

As far as i see there is some good sudgestions, i dont have the equipment to check the poo for what kinda thing im threathing, so im kinda intrested in what it is 90% of the cases, and what works 90% of the cases.. Ive already done Prazi. I have fed her bloodworms for a good period, so that can be the a simple reason, now im only feeding worms, alot of them, so it might be better just with that..

IMO there is no such thing as hijacking a thread as long as the subject is the same.. If you change subject and talk on and on about nothing that has to do with the topic, that is hijacking.

My apologies to anyone who thinks I hijacked the thread. I just fuigured it would have been stupid to have 2 threads on the same issue. Our issue is a lil different as far as food being delivered to our rays but ultimately the same question. I also don't have the equipment to look at waste in detail to see Wut parasite it is that "I" have. Further more my ray isn't even "pooing" anymore. So if and that's a if u r basing me for not knowing Wut parasite I'm dealing with then u don't have enough info to bash on me. Anyways OP right now I'm trying to use this garlic elixer stuff. Yesterday was my first try. U soak wutever u r feeding the ray in it. About a teaspoon to every oz of weight. I've herd plenty of times garlic helps on these situations. I actually have a friend that every now and then soaks his food in garlic juice then rinses it off with the tanks water before feeding. Ill let u know how this works for me. I've already orderd panacur from the internet tho. Ive seen zoodiver help others on here and seems VERY knowledgeable so I would take his advice

Yeah, i also take zoodiver`s advises seriously.. I think ive read about panacure some else were aswell. Keep me posted on ur garlic stuff, i dont know what it is, but il find out

Panacur is basically fenbendazole, for roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworm. Be careful using it with rays.
I am sure Zoodiver will tell you the correct protocols for using it.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
While garlic does have minor antihelminitic properties , its effectiveness is largely a myth, unless your fish are swimming in straight garlic juice, which is a bit impractical.

So David I guess the question for u would be... Since we both cannot fond out wut type of internal parasite we r dealing with, and garlic is more or less a myth and panacur is to risky to use. Wut would be ur suggestion? Becuz I've owned fish for about 7 years now and luckily this is my first internal parasite experience.
