Internet TV options? Anyone use this type of service?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That shouldn't really make that much of a difference. I just watch it on Netflix at the regular size. I tried zooming in with my laptop and it didn't look right, but I probably could have fixed it adjusting the TV itself...didn't mess with it too much.

Gotta bump this now that MFK is back! Installed XBMC over the weekend and spent a few hours playing with it. Very cool piece of software. We watched Zero Dark Thirty which is still in theaters and it was in surprisingly good quality.

But with that said, Navi-X is a steamy pile of garbage!!!! How the heck do you get it to work? Most of the time the program won't even open, and when I can finally browse shows or movies, it says error, cannot open file. I read a thread on XBMC from November saying how Navi-X is in trouble. It's a one-man operation and he's overwhelmed and running out of money. Sad to say that Navi-X won't be around for the long term. It's absolutely unusable.

So...what add-ons have worked best for you? I've had good luck with 1Channel and IceFilms. I have some others installed, but haven't spent much time browsing them. Any others you recommend?

I just ordered this keyboard from Amazon so I can use the laptop as a dedicated HTPC. With the HDMI-out port on the laptop, I can adjust the resolution to the tv to a full 1920x1080 which looks fantastic.

The only thing I've ever actually used on XBMC is Navi-X. I used it to watch the first half of the ND game on the live TV thing last night before I turned it off in disgust...thought about turning it off after the first quarter. I've been having more and more trouble with it lately, but still get it to work most of the time. I have favorites stored, though, so I don't have to use the search function much because that seems to be where most of the trouble lies. It might be a compatibility issue with the versions of XBMC and Navi-X that you have, too. It seems to work better on the TV hooked up to my desktop than it does to the one I use in the living room that's hooked up to my laptop.

Ordered a mini "barebones" system last night so I can quit using my laptop and having a bunch of cords coming from the tv stand that my stupid cat somehow always find a way to chew up plus I had to use s-video because the laptop has no hdmi and the tv has no vga...older Panasonic plasma. It comes with everything but an os.

Also navi-x changed servers and it is working a lot better now.

Had to get rid of Dish after they kept nickle/diming me to death. I told them I was paying for programing... not commercials, just got tired of a commercial every 10 seconds LOL. So I called them up and told them if they wanted to force commercials on me that I wasnt paying for why not create an exclusive commercial channel like the home shopping network, or offer a commercial free programing option and not that hopper crap.

Red lights, lines and commercials are a real waste of life.
