I'd go with the JD, and a strawberry pot or something he can hide in and escape from

I used to keep an O with a JD in a 75, they both matured to full size (12" for O, and over 8" for JD), and got along great. Plus, not too many fish can compare with the looks of a mature male JD.

I'd go with a JD over convicts too. You'll have a lot more color in your tank and Jacks and Oscars just tend to get along. I've known quite a few people who had an Oscar and JD in 75's or 90's with great results. Like pcfriedrich said, make sure the jag has a flowerpot or piece of driftwood large enough that he can hide away when he wants and you should be fine. I'd keep 3 of the Silver Dollars too and with lots of filtration.

my oscar yang gets along with my jags like family , sometimes he'll chase them some times they'll chase him but only for a few seconds , but my oscars only 4 inchs and my biggest jag in there with him is only 3inches but id say get a bigger tank befor adding any new fish to him so they wont fight over the space they need , id say atlest a 125gal. but thats just my opinion, i could be wrong

Thanks for all the comments. Looks like I've got some options to at least try. Leaning towards the JD with a nice hiding place. Now how do I find a nice male in the GTA at a reasonable size to put in there.

A bigger tank is a great idea but the cost is something I'm not willing to deal with.

I am moving apartments in a couple weeks and thought that might be a good time to introduce the new fish.

What do you think?

Thanks for the comments on Oliver's looks he's a real character.

Another idea would be to introduce the new fish by himself without the Oscar. If you are moving and have a large bin or something you could keep him in for a day or so, that way the new fish can acclimate without being immediately attacked.

I think since the O has been in the tank for a while and at his size he may not take lightly to new comers. If he was a baby you could get away with alot of cichlids.

Ive kept angels with oscars, the angels were full grown when the baby oscars were introduced and there were no problems.

In a 90 gallon, you could do a JD. If you get a breeding pair of cons they will stand their ground and the fry could be his food. A 90 gallon is certainly large enough for another fish or two with an Oscar.

Agreed. Just need to keep in mind how messy Oscars are and how other fish might be affected by this.

A male honduran red point would stand his ground...trust me I know mine stands off with my 5" jag all the time...

A city that big should have some somewhere...you'd think.

Lot's of looking aroudn to do I guess. Usually just seeing baby's out there in the Pet Shops.

Do you think I'd have any luck on this board? or the classified's on this site?
