Hey guys I have one spotted or florida gar and wanted to get another one around the same size my fear is that they my fight, this is my first gar so I'm not sure if it will work......Will it?

I have 2 floridas together and no problems. When I first put in the smaller of the 2 they laid around on the bottom against each other and rubbed. But now they dont even care the other is in there.
depending on tankmates and feeding frequency you may get some frayed fins as well from time to time...this is relatively common in keeping gars together, and usually heals up within a matter of days. just another thing to be aware of since it happens but is not really dangerous to the fish--

I got my new gar they were from the same batch but when i got this one back it looked totally different and skinny may be my one is just obese. They are getting along very well though no problems except for the odd frayed fins you guys mentioned.

Nice new gar! They seem to be getting along well. reminds me of our 18"er and our 12"er. We still get the occasional frayed fins, but they do just fine together. My 18"er is also a little on the chubby side compared to the smaller one, but the smaller one will eventually bulk up as well. Is your big guy a shortnose or a Florida, and how big is he??
