 ahaha I love that quote. I hate the "do you eat.." question too. I dont have anything against eating any fish though, besides the flavor. Most fish are tasty to some degree. As an aquaculturist, I have raised a few speces that I have also kept in tanks. My favorite pet, besides my oscars, is my marble goby and I know he is delicioius in his home country. If its in my tank, its a pet, if its not its fair game. I dont agree that one fish is of higher value than another fish. Is a chihuahua ok to eat and a german shepard wrong?

Protein is protein when you need it. But in civilized society things need to be humanely and sustainably farmed. Or the fisheries need to be kept in check in some way. Are arapima farmed like this?

I think in brazil yes, they farm them for food to be sent around the world since catching wild is illegal over there i think?

Btw, got the quote slightly wrong... Its should have been if it walks on all fours and has its back to the sky its fair game

Cool. Thanks for the info bro! :)

if you check out the river monsters episode on arapaima, they show a small farm for them

I saw that one I just didnt think that there were farms big enough to support international demand.

Well in all fairness, not sure how popular arapima are as a food source outside of Brazil? Although im sure there are a few Asian countries that probably treat it as a delicacy...

You guys get me hungry... But yes I love to eat tilapia. I agree with the above quote about how I'm sure some of these fish in their home country are a delicacy but if it's in my tank it's a pet. I read somewhere that people fish for and eat silver aros I keep silvers doesn't mean I'll eat them :D
