irredescent shark feeding question

thanks for the heads up on the shrimp pellets. the only time their stomachs get really fat like that is when i feed the the cheapo wardley's shrimp pellets. they eat a bunch and then the pellets expand in their stomachs. i really dont like feeding them that for that reason and the fact that they make a mess and clogg up the filters.

as far as the bacteria goes, i did make that mistake a few months back. i was doing water changes but i was taking too much water out and i destroyed the bacteria. lesson learned. i dunno. as long as i dont feed them shrimp more than 3 times a wk, its fine.

Well, one problem you're running into, is that they being fed a lot. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, better over fed then under fed, just more waste, but maybe that one was just feeling fat one day, but if you feed them as much as the one in the 2nd pic, you can skip a day or two of feeding, or just feed smaller amounts every day.
the females are fat like that all the time. the skinny ones are males. that is just about how they are all the time. in my pics, her stomache is only slightly stretched

it may be too late but try a good quality koi food.
are there any koi fish foods that won't float. i tried koi food once but it floated and they wouldn't eat it.
i did forget to mention that i do feed them live feeder fish. i usually buy 3 dozen of medium sized gold fish and they are usually gone within an hour. that is usually more of a treat for them though. i get them about once every two weeks.
