those are true alligator gars from what i can see id be all over them for $20 a closer picture of the head would make it easier to tell but from what the picture shows they are gator gars

Are you 100%? I just bought 20 bulk of identical gars like these in pics thinking they where spotted gar. ****. That changes my grow out plans straight to the 2000 I guess

I wish I could find a store here that sells Jardini that cheap, last one I saw was a few years ago for $250. It's wierd as they are native here

We only have the one local fish store here now and I flatly refuse to buy fish there anymore the last few times I had bought from there I ended up with a dead/sick fish by the next day. I prefer to drive an hour or more to get quality fish now. It was just a shame the other LFS shut down as they were extremly knowledgable and had decades of experience in the fish industry in Australia and had taught me so much in my fledging yearsof this hobby

well the thing is here in salem oregon our petsmart is actually clean and well kept the people in our petsmart actually know what there doing and info on all the fish and question buyers before buying and won't sell if they dony have big enough tanks:D but our petco ugh slugish employees and take hours to get to the fish department...our real prop is our lfs coral reef pet center mostly salt but the fresh water tanks are horrid and the owner bob knows almost nothing of them almost all the labeling when I see a new fish and ask them what its name is they will tell me a diffrent name when I really kno what time of fish they are. They throw in all sichlids in with african cihlids its just crazy!

Yea my petsmart (we only have one) is pretty clean and really cheap and fish look in great condition but they are in even smaller tanks but the filtration looks like it has a high turnover but theres not much to itès fish section but its cheap! this store i posted of also throws fish in randomly with others. In the pick of the silver arrowns with a jardini price tag i didnèt even see the jardini, there was one in the gar tank (its a silver blur on the right side in the pic) one with clown loaches and another chilling in a unlabeled tank. They have some africans in with SA they have another arrow tank with frontasa in it. a discus with some frontasa and BGKs and others also!

also sorry for the *è* it wont let me make a floating comma think sorry dont know what its called

Like i said i wasn't bashing because he was ansian he just happened to be asian. I understand the business point but i don't understand the lying! I mean if i don't ask by all means sell it to me and make money but to lie and give false info! And the other part is they don't sell quick! They are in a low low traffic shopping center with no signs or ads indicating that they are even in the shopping center (not a mall) or anything. Also like i said the stores TINY. No people buy much from there at all. The centre mostly consists of old people (and i mean a lot) and middle school children and it's located in a area near between the poor side with high crime and middle class. No big business going on there. Also the fish are there for months by no means they sell fast lots of them die off. Another note how do fish stores keep there fish from growing? They had jags in there since august and the last two just died off last week (i personally saw the dead fish) and they were between 1.5-2" the entire 6 months! SO ya i have many reasons why im not impressed with the store and quality fish but im addicting for browsing fish and like i said its the closet! Only reason i know off it is becasue i went to the shopping centre for lunches in my middle years and now i go on a bi weekly schedule thats why I have such deep opinions...

Edit: also the tanks aren't that clean usually full of that red stuff thats in the gar pic and all powered by sponge filters btw

I worked at a lfs in'96,i basically ran the whole place because the boss /owner was never around.i was feeding the fish one day, the predators, and he told me not to feed them so much, that we were just keeping them alive, not trying to grow them! Kinda pissed me off, but it was his shop,i got a limbs shovelnose from him when I first started, that little guy never got over 8", yeah he kept him alive, but stunted him.

If you are up in Queensland, apparently there are heaps up there in the rivers to catch.
