With the surge of mini tigers this year, I thought that may be they are bred in house. I can not figure out how are they able to catch in the wild that many mini tigers (in large quantity) to send out overseas? Another previous thread was already started and indicated that there is no evidence that they are bred in captivity, but I am still amazed of how they can catch that many small tiny indo to ship overseas for sale..
Well think they catch and ship neon tetras by the who knows how many tens of thousands per year just like many other fish. I know not all neons are wild, just an example. The fact that it CAN be done doesn't surprise or concern me it's IF the population can survive it long term that gets me. From what I gather (from forums, talking to people in person, videos) tigers need to be fairly large before they breed period, and with the limited numbers as it is, not to mention an ecosystem that is becoming smaller and smaller due to damming, human progression etc AND a potentially slow growth rate in the wild, I'm a bit concerned about the magnitude of the hit the wild population took this last year (at least as far as minis go). I don't claim to know a whole lot about the environment these fish live in but from what I do know about what it takes for a species and an ecosystem to thrive and in some cases survive all things point to ITs and the other remaining species potentially being in the exact same boat as STs were not even a full decade ago.

I think the wild population will be fine for a long time yet as the fishing area is much larger than it was with ST

all tigers do do better on there own if they are the Same size if you have a massive size difference they don't seam to fight

Thin bars also do better in groups and don't fight as much

My big ST is fine with smaller tigers but when the size gets closer they start fighting

When I had a IT that was 10 inch my ST was fine with it now the IT is 16inch and the 2nd largest in my tank the ST chases it a lot

Tigers are not naturally a group fish

My big ST is the boss and I have no fighting with the rest of the tigers and I have 2 x 12inch thin bars 2 x 12 inch 3 bar IT and a 16inch traditional IT
The big ST and big IT are the only 2 that fight but were fine when the IT was smaller
