Is a .002 salinity change enough to kill fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea man your ph should not be moving that much over weeks. At the first indication of ph dropping you should add buffer to stabalize it.....Letting it drop and know its dropping is not good maintence at all.... you should google search how to maintain and the importance of ph in a saltwater aquarium. This is a very basic tool that is over looked, and can be deadly and harmful to fish.

Keep up with weekly tests and when you read the tests its best to act accordingly.

thx canuck...honestly with all your other water parameters being in check, i think u added to much live rock at one point and the flux ur fish just couldnt handle it with ur ph going up an dwn so much in the bpast weeks...thats a major thing...ph shouldnt b adjusted at all within a week or 2 weeks even, most of the time when ppl have no explanantion for deaths its becuz of ph....ph is like the masked murder more dangerous then temp, ich, salinity,hd,or anything else u could think of

ph is the single most important thing besides oxygen ina tank

Wow, I didnt even notice the ph (as im not used to seeing it fluctuate like that) I would have to agree, the PH changing that much would be very stressful on your fish, you need to buffer it better.

I will keep a close eye on ph. I don't think that was the problem at the time the fish died. Most of the ph fluctuation was before the fish were in the tank. I will buffer it better and watch it closely. Thanks for the help.

Yea the ph could have caused you other problems... hopefully this was the source.
