I was wondering if it's safe to use a standard ACE Hardware type garden hose to fill your tanks during water changes. I've been using one for a little over a month with no problems, but I heard from someone that you're not supposed to use a garden hose because supposedly some chemical can harm the fish. Is this true?

It is not a good idea to use a standard garden hose. However, Ace makes an RV hose which will be white, with a blue stripe. This is designed to be used on RV's to supply water to the sinks. They are water potable, and food grade inside. They will not harm your inhabitants.
