Is a garden hose safe?

I dont know what your talking about man a python is the best becuz gravel vac and then it can fll back up

What I'm talking about is that python tubing is just vinyl tubing that costs twice as much. Pythons are over rated IMO, and waste a lot of water. You can accomplish the same with a gravel washer (not gravel vac), siphon J-tube, and RV hose. This method is cheaper, and much more effective.

If you are insistent on using a python, you can just buy the python essential parts, and use an RV hose for much cheaper. I have a full python unit, that is 100' long, and it ran me a total of $35.

if the hose has been run through continuously with safe water, there shouldnt be any problems, however I would personally prefer plastic fittings. even though even the python uses brass.

I use a hose...never had problems but this thread is making me think...hmmmm

I use a garden hose for over a year, no problems..it's strictly used for the aquariums, never been outside since it was new.

Yeah, we bought ours with the specific purpose of aquarium use. It never goes outside and I run water through it for a little bit just to wash it out/get the right temperature.

I use a small diameter garden hose with a aquaclear power head on the end for more flow. It gets the water out quick and then i just take the powerhead and put it in a rubermaid container which already has distilled dechloronated water in and turn it on and fill'er up.
