Fish can't see in color so they don't care that it's green.

I really have to disagree with that statement

take my ocean nutrition flake food that I use there are five different colors of flakes to mark what flake it is and the fish avoid the green and go for the red , purple or yellow

I have often wondered how people can say this animal or that animal dont see in color how would you know have you look through their eyes thought their thoughts.

Yeah I knew a red devil that only ate red flakes. I had a soft spot for the big guy so I'd occasionally pick out a fist full of read flakes for him.

Henry Ford made model "T" black to hold costs down. All Eheim are among the most expensive filters there are.
The fact that different color tubes are now coming with the new filters, means competition is forcing Eheim to quit it`s policy of, If you want ours..it`s green for you.

Ehiem is only trying to help the environment. They went green long before anyone else did.

I never understood the green either. I don't care if the fish can see it or not. "I" can see it. If they do that so it can blend in with plants, what about those without plants, or with plants that should'nt be near the intake anyways. I say clear or black is the way to go.

Yeah I have heard that the green is there to prevent algae growth... I still don't appreciate it too much though!

I was thinking about this the other day, wouldn't it be nice to have an external filter system which integrated itself into our fish tanks. I mean a majority of canister filters users have a fish tank with 4 walls at 90 deg angles to each other and a flat base. I would also be guessing a majority of us would put the intake filters in the corner of the tank too... just remember i am only guessing here so before anyone takes a shot at me for speculating.. I am only guessing.

Wouldn't it be nice to hide those ugly intakes and suction caps and integrate the intake tubes into a corner of a tank similar to a 45 deg weir that you see some tanks have.... I mean, it would just be an add on accessory and not stock, as some people might have round or hex shape tanks.

Just a thought... I am probably just day dreaming at work too much.

If the green was to prevent algae growth, don't you think it'd be a better (and cheaper) option to just not make the tubing opaque?

Hey, if it works then I have no problems with it being green or any other color. For me it's better to have a green canister that is reliable than another that looks good but doesn't work. After all its main purpose is to keep fish alive right?
