I work as a firefighter in Atlantic City and grew up on the beach and have been through loads of these storms. So, I dont get too concerned with the storms. However, I have a crappy feeling in my gut about this one. Could be a problem-maker. DX...the winds are picking up down here as well. There are benefits to living on the beach, but then at times it sucks.

Do I get rescued in the wiener suit? Good luck! I have that "bad feeling" too....maybe I can turn the basement into a free form catfish pond...hmmmmm

well I dont really think a back up power is necessary for me. I have plants in my aquariums so just in case of a power outage they have some oxygen. Each of my tanks generally have enough plants to give them oxygen for 4-5 days without issues... The real issue for me is the temperature loss... I dont know how to prepare for that

I saw your thread where you mentioned the cold there where you are.Is this seasonal or something new as I always thought it was quite warm in most areas in India?

Northern parts of India does have some severe cold weather this time of the year.
But the southern parts, where I live, the temperature rarely drops below 78F or 25C even in the coldest times its really warm.

My only prep involves gassing up all the cars cause I'm expecting a big jump at the pumps in the next couple of days. Good luck to everyone who's getting hit right now.

Keeping up the temperature is my only need for a power generator. The needs for oxygen and beneficial bacterial can be prepared for. But not so much with the temperature without the backup power.

I should of purchase sponge filters. Is battery airpump and airstones good enough?

this storm is crazy my old neighborhood in the lower east side of manhattan is under water. its flooded with 8-11 feet of water . if i still lived there i wouldve had to evacuate .
