It was just an idea but it would be nice if the mods took the non profile posts outta the sticky tho so it could be continued
 
Well I think we should ask ourselves, what do we have to contribute to something like this that isn't already found elsewhere on the web in greater detail? I think the answer to that is personal experience with aquarium husbandry and pictures to start with.

I think other people should be allowed to suggest info to an existing profile, and the OP thats you Aquamonster, can decide wether the information is worth going in or if its just anecdotal.
I think as suggested by aclockworkorange we should add a section to the profile called
"Known Local Variants"
Similar species by Behaviour
Similar species by look

that way if someone liked the fish in question but felt it wouldnt work in their tank, they have some extra help in finding something similar
I do think this is worth doing, because I value the opinion and experience of members here more than a site profile because they all have conflicting information. which is why most of us post on here to ask others experience with fish even after we have checked out the profiles on other sites.
 
Sounds like an ambitious project. I would suggest making sure before you used any information from other sites, that you request permission to use and them credit the source. TOo often these things start and it ends up being a rip off of another sites hard work. I'm certain there are good intentions. This has been attempted before. Just respect other people's information. Good luck.
