When I get my freezer fixed I am going to get some shrimp/talapia (I like it too lol) but as of right now I might go get some more feeder fish and keep putting in the shrimp pellets so she can eat them if she chooses, I think she does because they are gone the next morning.

I got her from a place in Phoenix called The Ocean Floor.

That is pointless. It will never choose the pellets over live feeders.
The feeders may well eat the pellets though.

It doesn't look dangerously thin, so just starve it into pellets!

WOW guys really likes his ornates

what do you mean? lol

"tokyogasmask" She might lol when I put the pellets in and they start to puff up a little she starts sniffing around looking for them... and she would go a few days normally in between Platy when I put the pellets in, if I didnt.. it was a Platy every night.

I am going to starve her into eating the pellets, I have a big can of them, might as well.

(and no she isnt thin at all in my opinion, she actually has a pretty lumpy belly after what she ate lastnight)

Just drop the feeders.
Unnecessary risk IMO.

And I would most definitely change that substrate while experimenting with foods. (Personally I wouldn't risk using gravel full stop)

Oookay, I will take your word for it :) of all the fish I have ever had, this is the one I will do everything in my power to keep from having any unnecessary problems.
I am still treating for ich right now, and I want to make sure it is all gone before I go buy the sand.
After reading somewhere they can swallow it on accident I wanted to change it right away. I am on the 9th day of a salt treatment so it wont be long, before I can get the sand and new decorations.
Since your more educated on this than me, should I get live plants? If so what kinds would be good for a sand bottomed tank? Do I need a special light? Or would window light work?
I wanted to get a few good sized chunks of driftwood also, do I need to clean or disinfect them before putting them in the tank?
If you dont know I am sure the guys at my fish shop could help me answer these questions.. I just trust MFK more than a young fish shop employee.

Your Bichir won't care if plants are real or not.
It is all down to wether you want the hassle of live plants or not.

Personally, I have 40 Bichirs spread over 6 tanks and none have live plants.
But most have good amounts of wood and caves.

Yea idk I have never had live plants in a tank before, I probably will just stick with the fake ons and some drift wood.
I can feel myself about to spend a lot of money lol
I obsess with my tanks and this is the first one I have had in a little while :p

Go for fake plants

Either that or plants which anchor onto rocks/driftwood and floating plants.
Bichirs have been known to unroot plants while digging the substrate for food.

All of my bichirs are in heavily planted tanks. I wouldn't keep them any other way. Once a tiger lotus or valisneria gets rooted, not much can get it out. I had a tiger lotus in my 75 for a couple of years. When I pulled it out, it took the entire substrate with it. The substrate was almost 4" thick.

meaning I think they are a bit over priced
