Is CO2 required 4 a sucessful planted tank?

I am a real big fan of the low tech method. I love the fact that I can go away for awhile, or just be lazy and not haveing to worry that my tank will crash on me.

All you need to buy is the CO2 canister and your set...i think its a HELLVA deal if you ask me...
