...Having an opinion is fine. Having an opinion without really knowing what you are having an opinion on is goofy. Especially when you are so vehement about it...if you took the time to watch his videos it would answer literally every one of your questions...also curious what are the "countless waste products" you say are being produced by fish?

Was my response too "vehement"? I certainly didn't think so; I merely addressed a few of the problems that I saw with the FF methodology. Of course, I also didn't think I was being goofy, or childish, or any of the other insulting phrases that you repeatedly throw at those of us who haven't drunk the Koolade as you have. In fact, if anyone is being vehement...

I'm not qualified to enumerate all the compounds and waste products that make up fish waste...but ammonia is not a solid brown substance, so there must be something that gives fish poop its form and colour besides ammonia. We certainly hear a lot about pheromones and hormones being excreted and acting as growth inhibitors that curtail the size of fish living in them; doesn't sound like stuff you want accumulating for months and years in your tank. Suggesting that fish waste is strictly ammonia would be...well, I dunno...goofy?

And, really, I have no idea how many videos the FF has put out, but the number has gotta be way up there. Any time I watch a YouTube video on any topic whatsoever, his earnest elderly face pops up several times in the list of suggested stuff to watch. As I stated, I have only watched two of them all the way through. Those two give a pretty good inkling of what's to come in the rest...in other words, very little, IMHO.

Hormones in the water have been debunked as a myth. There is no science to back that up it was something cherry picked and misquoted which has become fish lore in the hobby
As to your statements about fish poop... yes it has ammonia but it also contains many other compounds most of which need to be broken down farther to be used by plants and to feed the beneficial bacteria within the system. This is why detritavores and benthic feeding fish and microfauna are essential.

This is my point. Getting all worked up about pseudoscience and hobby myths rather than doing some research is goofy. I know what the man shows flies in the face of tradition within the hobby, but that is where growth and change come from.
Watching two videos when you state he has made many and thinking you understand the entirety of what is being said is like reading two chapters of a text book and thinking you can challenge the professor.

Also what i said was calling him a "chomo" was childish, so if that was you i stand by it. Thats childish.

No wc tanks can be very attractive and do work well. It takes understanding something and doing it correctly is all.
In this day and age calling someone a chomo or making claims like that is not only irresponsible its childish. Hes not saying anything creepy he is just an older slow talking guy. At that age i hope i still have the mental faculties that he does especially with how prevalent alzheimers and dementia are.
It’s not how he talks, it’s the creepy ass cartoon
Possibly but I’ve seen his tanks and not only are they ugly but he doesn’t seem to know how to stock or understand about the dietary needs of fish.

I didn’t call him a chomo, I said that creepy cartoon video gave me chomo vibes.

I had not heard that. My understanding has been that there are hormones and other substances secreted that we may not yet fully understand and an example of that is the alarm secretion that Rosy Red Minnows use to communicate danger, proximity to predators, etc.

Ostariophysan fishes, which include fathead minnows, possess an alarm substance, or Schreckstoff, in distinctive epidermal club cells.

There are things like this. But what im referring to is fish releasing hormones that are growth inhibitors for other fish. There was a study done and subsequently misquoted that led to the myth about your aquariums needing frequent water changes for fish to grow to full size or else they would be stunted due to the accumulation of these supposed growth inhibiting hormones.

A no WC could possibly work with lake species, still not the best idea, but riverine species have 100% WCs every second in the wild

If this were an issue you could never keep riverine fish in any aquarium as even a week in between water changes is 604800 times more than your stated 100% per second. And even then you arent doing 100% water changes.
