is fish keeping immoral??

No more immoral then keeping any animal, the difference in keeping in any is always space. Dog's cant run and roam the planet, birds can't fly around the heavens, fish can't explore the depths. I could go on and on about it.

What I think would be cool is if the M.A.N "US" and other fish keepers could post an open letter, or even send snail mail. To the owners of the big pet boxes, and ask simply for more accurate information on the info cards. This invalid or missing information is the cause of more immoral fish keeping then anthing else; other then beta fish.

I haven't seen The Cove but I've read a book by Richard O'Barry. He's a pretty intense activist and I agree with most of his opinions, only problem is that I think if some marine mammals weren't held in captivity to serve as ambassadors of their species perhaps people wouldn't have the same affinity for them and desire to back legislation and other means to protect them.
However, I don't think that fish are capable of the same level of mental process and thus sustained stress and anguish from captivity that a cetacean might endure. I don't know what you mean about fish breeding in tanks. Most can be fenangled into doing so.

true but as to keeping a bird in a cage, its natural instint is to fly upon oppourtunity although provided with food and secure shelter, similarly would a fish posses similar outlook??

I agree, we hinder their natural mate selection to suit our convenience or aesthetic desires (produce hybrids or expression of various phenotypes). Double edge sword tho, by keeping them this way we change the species yet also relive pressure from the wild populations to supply the pet market.
