Is it always going to be skittish?

You wanna buy it?

I'm going to talk to the LFS today and see if they want to trade. At this point I'm over it, small or not I don't want to deal with it and unlike children you can trade fish back in so I'll take advantage.

As is my saving pennies. I really don't *need* to buy another fish tank. I have 5 as is, buying a fish that required a 200+ gallon tank was a fun idea but in the long run it's not best for my budget end of things. The current tank load is enough, plus I want to put on of those shiny things on my GFs finger so I wouldn't have the money for a huge tank anyway. You live, You learn. ;)

I'm sure a new owner will pick it up and enjoy it more than I would have anyway.

keep it for a while. it has to grow to know you/the tank

my aros would never jump/skittish away from me. when im at/near my tank they are swimming against the glass towards me as if they are in a flowing stream and they think they'll actually work their way towards me. young aros are a lot more skittish then larger aros. my 3 aros are 26" btw

Yea, I am going to. I was just getting really annoyed with the little guy because I pulled my Chocolate out of the 75g and re-setup my 45g to keep the Aro calm only to have it not even matter. I didn't want 5 tanks so I said screw it and put the Chocolate back in the 75g and amazingly it's actually helped the Aro calm down. That month of growth made a huge difference now as they are both the same length and getting along fine. I even checked Craigslist today to see if I could find a steal on a huge tank but no such luck. No biggie I figure I have at least a year before the Aro is to big for the 75g. Glad the store wasn't doing trades though, because it resulted in the Aro calming down and having a new freind plus me being back down to 4 tanks.

My Silver about drove me crazy raising him , but he is becoming a great monster now. Just got him a 125 gal today yea. Now cant wait the 3 months for him to be ready for a 240 or bigger. If you let him drive you crazy he will , but take the time to enjoy him and he will settle down and he will be a great buddy that likes to jump.

my 20+in silver arowana isn't as skittish as she used to be, she used to jump and bonk her head if you walked past the tank too fast..but now that she's the biggest toughest fish in the tank she only freaks out if you take the cover off her tank and rearrange the decorations..

mine would attack me if i reached in to rearrange the decor lol

instead of feeling annoyed on how its acting, try to learn to read ur fish's reaction. eventually you can prevent it from happening. and it really helps if ur tank is in a high traffic area of ur house. my leichardti is in my living room which we walk by atleast 50 times a day, and my 3 silvers in my 400gal is in my garage where i spend 5 days out of the week hanging out in
