Is it okay to do a 75% water change?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do 2 x 40-50% changes every week in my ray tank with water straight out the tap and never had a problem

To the OP....... I highly recommend that you go to the ray section of this site, and ask some of your questions there. This is the General Aquaria forum, where most people tend to generalize.

Good luck.

Lol, Rd is just getting frustrated with lots of people giving a useless opinion on their own experiences instead of considering the specific needs of the op. The op didn't ask how often people change their water and at what scale although the title is a bit misleading, he has his own problem with delicate fish and needs good advice.
As Rd said the chemistry of the water can be way off if nitrates have rocketed, you need to gradually get it back down.
I have lost fish that I have bought privately from badly maintained tanks just by adding them straight to my well maintained tank.

Like calling people idiots?
Truthfully he didn't call anyone idiots(s) as mentioned, he's trying to point out unless everything about your situation (all water conditions) is a perfect match to the OP's, what you do with your WC habits is not going to be the same as the OPs

Useless? Really, mate?

Judging by these posts, he appears to be also looking to find an ideal w/c regiment, after he resolves his nitrate issue

I usually do a weekly wc of 30% but recently added 2 new rays

I've also been doing about a 20% wc every night for the past 4days. Is it too excessive?
