Just as a side note to what jason longboard has mentioned, let me share a real life experience with you which happened to a U.S. Marine infantry soldier who was with me in Vietnam.

We were about 4 clicks from the DMZ, on patrol searching for an assasination squad of Vietnamese soldiers. During this patrol search, we stopped for a 5 minute rest. When we stopped, a centipede fell from a tree branch, attacked this Marine and was stung 3 times on the left cheek of his face. The venom from these stings caused his entire face to swell. The area surrounding each of the 3 stings turned black immediately, indicating dead and damaged tissue to his face. Each of the stung areas which turned black was the size of a 25 cent piece. I called for an immediate medivac to get us behind friendly lines and to a field hospital. We were 10 minutes out by helicopter from our friendly lines, where he would recieve immediate medical attention....I got him back to the field hospital, taking the centipede along with him. I put the centipede in a closed container where the field hospital could make an antidote for his bites. Unfortunately, by the time he made it back to the field hospital, the venom from the 3 bites, spread to his nervous system in the spine of his neck. He had no response to any treatment. It was a great personal loss to me as this Marine was my Spotter and "A"-gunner. We had been together in country for 10 months. It was a real nightmare and PITA, writing a letter to his parents explaining what had happened and how their son had died.

So, ruckasiawesome, if you feel you have gonads made of something impervious to copius amounts of excrutiating pain and agony caused by a sting from a Vietnamese centipede and the burning injection of venom, go ahead, pick up that little tic-turd and try to hand feed him. But, if you get bit and can not make it to a hospital for treatment before you go into a traumatic state of shock and then into an unconsious coma .... you can not say you have not been forwarned. Beware, these centipedes are not user friendly.

This very sad story alone should be enough to convince you to not handfeed, let alone handle, that centipede.

forget it... im not gonna handle the centipede. After reading pages of experience on arachnoboards.com about the pain, i feel kind of intimidated

I think with a few exceptions some of the posts here got a bit more flaming than needed so fast for us all to be gathering as an animal hobby family. To the OP, we dont all know you and welcome you and all your questions and some day maybe to learn something even from you in the hobby, Im just glad its not going to be what you were wanting to learn this time lol, but really man I think you are making a good choice. I respect the decision you made and that you researched a lot before tryin it. Take care and post some pics of your stuff if you get a chance.

Agreed, we humans have a rather annoying habit of insulting others without realizing it.:irked:

We have a greater habit of insulting over the internet because we're all hidden behind computer screens.

video if you to decide to hand feed. If something goes horribly wrong it will be documented for future people wondering if they can hand feed such a creature

wait... didnt you let a piranha bite you for a bet? just be sure to make a vid, i wanna see this one also
