Different types of Plecos have different habits…

In regards to Common Plecos alone…

As Babies, they eat plant matter, including algae, readily…

As Juvis I would consider them Opportunistic Omnivores…

As Adults, I would consider them Opportunistic Carnivores that will eat plant matter in the case it were starving to death…

I don’t think we should use behavior in desperate situations to define “behavior” of an animal. There is plenty of documentation of human beings eating other humans in desperate situations, but I think it would be misleading to suggest that human beings readily cannibalize…

This is a bad thread pointed at one specific species. Or should I say L number.

I had 2 17" commons and they left stringy footlongs but my royal and gold nugget don't.

You get what you pay for!

Where are you located? BB Fish & Pet took my old 8" plecos. He acted like he didnt want them, but then I saw the tag a week later & he was selling them for $20 each! They both sold for that price in one weeks time... Point is, ask them to take the fish, but dont expect any $$ or store credit.

Don't flush it... that's horrid...

Either find it a suitable home or buck up and kill it yourself....

Flushing it only forces it to die a long drawn out miserabel death... with the very very slim chance you turn it into an invasive species which makes it someone else's problem...
