Is it really that bad?

This will give you an idea of how big that pacu can get in my opinion you would need at least 250 gallons tank for that fish and you will need an extremely efficient filtration system. The life span of these fish can be 5 - 15 years please think about it. Good on you if you decide to stick with him but you could have a lot of cool fish in a set up that big. I am building a tropical pond and the thought that goes into it is not that simple. You need to run large heaters and filtration and I have had to by a dehumidifier as well to stop the condensation rotting the timbers in my fish room. Running it as well is not cheap another consideration to take on.

An aquarium much, much larger than 250 gallons would ne needed. Ive been planning for this pond for quite a long time now and am aware of all things considered. Also pacus on average can live much longer than 15 years of age if taken care of. This fish is here to stay :)

Good on you nice to see you are following it through just people don’t understand the logistics in the building and running of these ponds when I looked into it. It opened my eyes up. Like your self I had fish out growing 2 relatively large tanks and selling them was not an option. But I still have time on my side with my fish when its done would love to see pictures.

Will do! Here is a picture of this guy turning, he still has extra space if you look closley but is not using all of it when he turns.

Sorry, i need some feedback, lol :P
To me it sounds like you're fishing for someone to say "Your pacu is ok in the 55g" when in reality, no ones going to say that, it should've been moved out long ago. The fact that the pacu had a hissy fit is a real sign that its current home is unsuitable.

The feedback everyone has been giving is
1) Get a larger temp place for it to live
2) Get that pond up and running ASAP
