1000 bucks a month sounds really high.

It would be $840 on a 10 year payoff (which all student loans are based on- unless private)- but that $840 doesn't include interest.

For subsidized loan, it's 4.5%- for unsubsidized it's 6.8% On $100,000 the interest a month will be a decent amount.

Go into Biology then a sub-category Ichthyology...Study of fish...That's what I am looking into going for now

Paying $100,000 + interest to get a degree in a field where you will be making $20,000 a year if you are lucky enough to find a job is a bad investment IMO. $1000/month student loan payments are BRUTAL. My ex wife was a lawyer and her loans were $1400/month and even when you make $200k a year that is a tough bill each month. A friend of mine has a bachelor's degree in wild life management or something similar from an environmental and forestry school here in NY and he could not find a job. He is back in school to be a bio teacher racking up more loans. I would start off at a community college in a regular old bio program and then concentrate on ichthyology. Don't fall prey to the oline degree/student loan trap, these programs are profit centers for universities and they don't care how you will repay your loans.

ive been looking into goin into being a DNR officer. In Florida its called FWC. Originally i thought id need a wildlife managment degree but found out that was un nessesary. In Indiana i know you need a degree but it doesnt matter what type it could be any degree you choose. That would be good to get one you like in something else so you have a fall back. but here in florida you dont need a degree at all. Just need to go into the police academy.

In pennsylvania you have to have a Biology or wildlife Bacholors Degree. There's not getting around it unfortunately.

then go for the Biology degree.. I agree.. specializing is a nice thing to do.. but AFTER you get the rudimentary education, if you can get the job with either degree. with a Biology degree if you end up not likeing the job you have a wide range of other jobs you can apply for w/ a bio degree. I always wanted to be a Vetrinarian.. Until I actually worked for one.

I have not been good with biology, so taking this course gives me the small amount of bio that I need, as well as all my general core classes needed. I am still looking into other options- because I think it's complete BS to charge $18,000 extra tuition as out of state tuition for an online class.

That's totally true, just don't give up you don't wanna be like all the people who hate getting up everyday to go to work. Life's too good to waste doing something you hate everyday. Keep at it you will eventually figure something out that works. Sorry if that's a bit cliché but that's how I go about it.
