IS LIQUID NAILS SAFE?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
first most of the adhesives are of super glue origin making them safe in Both environments, second depending on the size of the tank a small dose of limestone would be miniscule with good filtration and water flow , third I have used plumbers Goop, aquarium silicone, and various superglue adhesives, including expoxy for 25 years in reef keeping and have never had a problem with any so long as the product was intended to be used in or around water environments. Finally best to test in your situation and buy an aquarium safe product keeping in mine to use the proper adhesive for the job you want done.

I have used superglues that were "WATER PROOF" and they leeched toxins into my tank and nearly killed my fish. This fish lived another year but his color had faded and never returned. I not use a marine epoxy bought at Home Depot. It is in a clear tube and it is a green putty that you knead and apply. It will dry underwater and has never had negative effects on my aquariums. Unfortunately I do not recal the name of the product.

I went with aquarium silicone on glass and it looks real good with the light coming up from beneath the tank.

I've been curious about under tank lighting since I saw a tank at the LFS where the fish moved all the sand in one spot and the light from the tank below came through. How much ligth are you using? Any more pic's?
