Is my 60g growout overstocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed my oscar 11 pellets 4 times a day and 3 crickets a day. Then at night time i have to give him shrimp pellets or else my other fish wake up all nipped. I have thought of putting him in a 30g himself but then he gets lonely and is not active.

Don't listen to oscaroo he doesn't know anything, especially about overstocking he asks every week if he's over stocking.

Also your 60 is overstocked. The 300 should be good in my mind
well well well. Not everybody has the same opinion. Some people are saying more too. So back off! YOU ARE JUST LOOKING FOR REASONS TO FLAME ME!!!! i do not like flaming people but you gotta stop it!!!!

sorry a single Oscar needs a 70 gallon 4ft tank or more. That is too much food. you should feed your Oscar and other fish as much food as they can eat in 4-5 minuets once a day. good luck!!!!

Everything I feed with in 4-5min only gets eaten by the oscar, he bites and scares them all if they get near the surface to eat food.

Well get him his own tank. At least 75 gallons. you will be fine if he has his own tank. if you do that you could get a smaller cichlid to replace him. i would not get a Oscar to replace it beacause they are kind of big and can be aggressive.

Your tank is overstocked, yes. But if you keep up with your water changes you should be okay until march. A 300 will be fine for the fish you currently have, just keep lots of hiding places for the plecs. As regards to the oscar feeding, just feed as you do. And don't take note of someomes comments - they are a well known 'noob' to the forum.

Hey if the the aggression does not stop the O has to go. If recommended it because it was being a butt to the other fish.
