Is my 60g growout overstocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oscars become aggressive when they are hungry. Otherwise they are more of a mellow cichlid.

To the OP, if the oscar is becoming a problem. Pop him in the 30g until your 300g arrives then reintroduce him with the rest of the fish. If you think he may be lonely, pop in one of your larger fish that wont be bullied. This way you are reducing the aggression and bio-load in your 'grow out' tank!

Just got him a 40g today.
that will only work for a few months. Trust me they can get up to 12-14 inches. they are also super thick. what fish are the o bullying? if they are not to big you could put the victim fish in it. he makes my 75 gallon tank look small. how big is the O?

good idea. might work.

At most the O will be in the tank for 2 - 3 months. So it will grow a max of 3 inches. Which with the stress of moving and changing tank is unlikely. You are looking at a 2 inch growth. What size is he now?

Oscaroo - the O isn't staying in the 40 for life. You made your point about it needing a tank larger than 70g. I think he is aware of the size the fish can achieve.
