thanks everyone for the help! i love this site!
i pretty much freaked out when i first found him!
he seems to be doing a little better... and i talked to a pretty knowledgeable guy at the local lfs (yes THEY DO exist!) and he told me the same thing, that just a little time and TLC and he should pull through ...
im hoping, thats for sure
i like the idea of getting him on live, so i may do that tonight, although he's pretty small, so i would have to do small feeders. he hasnt shown any interest in the shrimp that i usually feed him. the guy at the store said if he doesnt eat in a week he will be in trouble, so hopefuilly i can avoid that

he has eaten, but not very much ... maybe a bite of shrimp a day ...
and hes swimming in the middle of the tank ...
this is bad, right?
feeders worked well, i am getting more, and thats what i will keep him on until he acts normal again

UPDATE - he's not doing well. he swims very slow, in the middle most of the time, sometimes near the bottom, sometimes 1/4 inch from the surface. never on top

i added feeder guppies, but he didnt respond. i will try to hand feed him later, if he lasts until i get off work :(

i went emergency grocery shopping
small feeders
bloodworm
shrimp
crickets
and flake

he wont touch any of it :(
at times he sits on the bottom of the tank for 10-15 min at a time ...
