so i have a small 3" peacock bass, and today went to feed him and threw a couple small peices of talapia in and he wouldnt touch em... also i noticed he has some red colouring on his side fin really to his body but the other isnt like that at all..... would he be sick with something ? he doesnt eat feeders ever either so that isnt the case.. water is 85-86deg...

How is your water quality? Can you test your water or have it tested? How often do you do water changes, how much do you typically change at a time and when was the last time you changed it? Do you vacum the substrate when you do a water change? How often do you clean the filter? If you could answer these questions it would be helpfull. Could you post a picture? I have an idea of what it might be but I don't want to jump the gun before you give me some more information.

Ammonia is 0 nitrates about 20-30ppm water changes every week if not evenery other weekend if I don't have time and usually change 80% and filter get done maybe. Every couple months or even less and I don't touch the bio only rinse the sponges and floss when needed also I vaccum the sand every water change as it just habit ... And for pic I can either late tonight or 2morrow when I wake up I work nights :)

What else is in the tank, (stocking level bio-load)? Any new arrivals introduced recently?

He was in a tank all by himself and now I moved him to my big tank in a area sectioned off and I noticed this weird redness on his one fin... Didn't see it on him in the other tank at all...

How long have you had him?

It is possibile that the fish has developed hemorrhagic septicemia. It is tuff to make a guess without at least a clear close-up of the affected area. If it is hemorrhagic septicemia I would treat the fish in a hospital tank with a Broad-spectrum antibiotic like Maracyn-Two. It may not and I don't want to jump to conclusions so please post a pic asap. At least read up on it yourself and see if you think the symptoms fit.

I have no idea what that is hahaha.... But I'll try to get a pic after I get home tonight if I can and post iot hopefully as I'm thinking of hitting up a store tomorrow and can grab something if needed ...
