Is my discus sick

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i did a 50% wc daily on my discus tank, and its been almost 4 mos. now.. i have no problem with it.. they are healthy and not shock..

Your fish no doubt got diseased from the stress brought on from your "filter cycling incident". Disease can show up weeks after stress related events. Get yourself some Prazipro, and follow the directions. It's the safest thing to use, and won't damage that fragile bio filter of yours.

A good LFS should have it. The ones in my area don't. I have to order it online. If your fish are showing great stress, I wouldn't wait too long.

I just got API general cure for flukes because it would have taken too long for the other and I put it in and now all of the discus a swimming and looking a lot better. It was after a water change so I don't think it was the medicine. I also put some salt in. So would it be from the salt, water change, or the medicine.

I'm not familiar with "General Cure". What does it have in it? You have to be careful with meds, some will destroy your bio filtration, and you've had problems in that area anyway.

General Cure active ingredients 250 mg Metronidazole and 75mg Praziquantel for each packet. 1 packet treats 10 gallons. BB will be fine.

Yep, Prazi and Metro should be fine in most cases with clean water. This combo has been reported to have adverse reactions to discus in tanks with elevated nitrates, but otherwise should be fine.
