Is my new Dovii a male?

It looks like a male to me. I think I can see spotting in the unpaired fins.....that is the best way to tell. Maybe with the eye you can see the spotting a little better.

My male is 17" and I have had him for close to three years, he was a fry when I got him. He started out in a 38 gal, then a 125 gal and now he is in a 180 gal....soon he is going in a 360 gal.

They grow like weeds up to 9" or so and start slow a little. After 12” they start to bulk up a lot. Feed him a diet high in protein. I feed mine Hikari bio gold +, massivore, krill and raw shrimp.

Awesome, thanks for the helpful info. Mine too started out in a 40gal, but I recentely moved him into a 135gallon, where he shares the tank with just a few other fish.
I plan on getting him his own tank eventualy, but until then, Ill make sure hes fed bio gold and massivore as a staple and krill as the bulking treat
