Jakob, as for your question I think you'd probably be okay, especially with two 50% waterchanges a week. That said I like to maintain around 10x turnover or even a bit more on my tanks, especially when there's bichirs involved. If you can afford another filter it certainly won't hurt

Wow, all the hate on the Bichirs uncalled for dudes I would go for spotted SDs just because I don't like reg SD but that's IMO....Dude $1000 for a $80 AC110 that's highway robbery. I think someone should send this boy a AC110.

PS: I'd like you haters to know my Bichirs are the most active in sight fish of my entire tank (other than the African Butterflys but Where are they supposed to go?)
